San Marzano DOP Tomatoes

Each San Marzano tomato producer must also report the number of tomatoes grown each year. To that effect, each tomato can bear a code specifying the number of tomatoes produced to date. San Marzano tomatoes are thinner and pointier. Their flesh is thicker, with fewer seeds, and their taste is bolder, sweeter and less acidic.
